Kain's Confession ~

   “I don’t know why but I can’t do it.”
Alex sighed heavily, “why the hell not? If you don’t, father will only send someone else. Kain, do you even realize what you are saying? You’ll be forced to battle to keep your position, hell that’s only if he don’t kill you himself.”
Kain punched the wall, “I know that. I’m fucked man. No matter what I do, I’m fucked. If I kill her it will kill me, if I don’t kill her then your father will.”
“I don’t understand this. It’s not like you love her, kill the Wiccan bitch and move on.”
“Actually Alex, I do. That’s the problem. When I was with her it all felt so…natural. Almost like she was meant to be mine.”
Alex couldn’t hide his disgust, “Kain, she’s a witch. Not only that but a white witch, whether you love her or not she will never accept you for who you are. You are a son of Darkness, the best assassin within all of the clans. Don’t throw that all away over something that will never be. Bed the witch if you like, but kill her and kill her soon. If father was to hear of your betrayal he would strike you dead without hesitation. Is that what you want?”
Kain stood there feeling defeated, wishing that there was another way.
“No Alex, but maybe that’s what I deserve. I have never betrayed the brotherhood and I don’t plan to start now. I will find a way to end her life.”
“Good. I will hold you to that, Kain.”
With a snap of his fingers and a burst of flames Alex was gone. No doubt to tell Damon to keep an eye on him. Showing any emotion other then hate and rage was frowned upon. It was seen as a sign of weakness. Love was almost unheard of within the cavernous walls of the Bain Brotherhood. Love to them was like a priest on a killing spree, completely unheard of. If he refused and left Darkness they would hunt him down, he would wish for death before the torture stopped.
Kain knew that first hand, he had spent countless hours in the torture chambers. All to teach a lesson and promote fear within the Order, it was a painful lesson that was never forgotten. There would be many lined up to see him on the other end of the blade. Getting back everything that he had ever given, all to stop the corruption within the ranks, but honestly they were demons, what more could you expect?

Confrontation

“Don’t you dare walk away from me. After everything that you’ve put me through you at least owe me this.”
Kain stopped dead in his tracks. His green eyes seemed to glow as he turned to face her. Before she could draw another breath he had her pinned against the wall. He had her nose to nose; his breath was hot against her skin.
“I owe you nothing,” he hissed. “You. You owe me everything.”
She couldn’t help but laugh. The sound of her own voice sounded foreign to her ears. Rage instantly replaced her fear. She had accomplished the one thing that she thought she could never. Replace her fear with stone cold hatred.
She leaned forward, mashing her nose into his. “You smug bastard. What could I possibly owe you? You took everything from me. You tricked me into your bed, you played with my mind, tormented me while I slept. The only thing that I owe you is your head on stick.”
He grinned, burying his face into her neck. “You can try my sweet, but you haven’t the strength to kill me. And as I recall you rather enjoyed being in my bed.”
She blushed. She was too angry to feel ashamed. “Don’t flatter yourself Kain, I thought you were Tavin.”
His smile widened, “are you so sure of that Morgan?”

No Matter the Cost ~

Tavin could sense her fear, feel her pain, but it did nothing to ease his anger.
“Damn it Morgan, are you crazy? How could you even consider the idea of seeing him again? Look at what happened the last time. You can’t honestly think that he’s sorry for any of it! He played you into his hand. We need to sit back and plan our next move.”
Morgan’s temper flared, “that’s easy for you to say, your not scared all of the time. Your thoughts and dreams aren’t haunted like mine. I refuse to be his victim any longer. I’m going to face him and I’m going to do it alone. If you can’t understand that then I’m not sure what we’re even doing together.”
The pained look on his face made her want to sink into the floor. The hurt look in his deep brown eyes was almost enough for her to apologize and find another way. But she knew that there was no other way. She had to face her fears and using him as a crutch wasn’t going to help anybody. It only gave Kain more power over her. He had backed her into a corner and she now realized that her only out was to confront him head on.
“I’m sorry Tavin, this is my fight.”
   “Let me help you.”
   “I can’t”
“Damn it, he’ll kill you! And that won’t solve anything!”
She sighed and stared at the floor,” maybe, maybe not. But it is my choice to make.”
“If you try, I will stop you.”
“No, you won’t. Your part of the Order and you can’t interfere with my freewill.”
“Yes, I will. They can have my damn soul. It means nothing anyway if I lose you.”
“I’m sorry, but it does,” her voice was little more then a whisper. She wouldn’t meet his eyes; instead she turned and walked out the door.
