Embrace of the Enemy

Kain lunged at Morgan, bringing her down hard on the wet grass. She struggled, desperately trying to free herself from his grasp. Kain grabbed her shoulders and rolled her over under him. Squaring his body with her hips he pulled her arms over her head and held them.

“Stop fighting me, damn it! I’m not going to hurt you!”

Letting out a cry of frustration Morgan stilled her body under his.

“Why the change Kain, are you getting bored of the mind games?”

The venom in her voice spoke volumes of the hatred she felt for him. Kain didn’t care, the only thing he knew was he had to save her, to hell with his loyalties. He leaned down, almost touching her face with his. Morgan held her breath, her eyes growing wide with fear and uncertainty.

Looking deep into her wild blue eyes Kain released his hold on her hands. He gently caressed the side of her face, wishing he could wipe away all of the fear and hurt he had put there.

Morgan was his, rather she knew it or not. She was the only calm to his destructive storm. He would love her like no other, for no one else could tether his demon half like she did.

“I can’t do this anymore Morgan.”

The pain in his voice sounded real, but she couldn’t be sure. His long list of tricks made trusting anything that he said a deadly game. She wouldn’t allow herself to feel compassion for the bastard, he’d tired to kill her more then once. She briefly met his eyes, he was holding something back.

“What Kain? What can’t you do? If you want to talk then get the hell off of me!”

Ignoring her plea, Kain lightly traced the outline of her jaw with his fingers. He laid his forehead to hers and whispered I’m so sorry.

Without warning he crushed her mouth with his. He cradled her face in his rough hands, not letting her go. She pushed at his heavy body but he wouldn’t budge. He kissed her until there was no choice but to kiss him back, his body responded hungrily to hers. She stopped fighting him and worked her hands into his hair, letting a soft moan escape her lips.

Kain struggled to control his body, he wanted her, but not like this.
And as she grinded her body against his he knew it would only be a matter of time before she came to him.

Kain's Confession ~

   “I don’t know why but I can’t do it.”
Alex sighed heavily, “why the hell not? If you don’t, father will only send someone else. Kain, do you even realize what you are saying? You’ll be forced to battle to keep your position, hell that’s only if he don’t kill you himself.”
Kain punched the wall, “I know that. I’m fucked man. No matter what I do, I’m fucked. If I kill her it will kill me, if I don’t kill her then your father will.”
“I don’t understand this. It’s not like you love her, kill the Wiccan bitch and move on.”
“Actually Alex, I do. That’s the problem. When I was with her it all felt so…natural. Almost like she was meant to be mine.”
Alex couldn’t hide his disgust, “Kain, she’s a witch. Not only that but a white witch, whether you love her or not she will never accept you for who you are. You are a son of Darkness, the best assassin within all of the clans. Don’t throw that all away over something that will never be. Bed the witch if you like, but kill her and kill her soon. If father was to hear of your betrayal he would strike you dead without hesitation. Is that what you want?”
Kain stood there feeling defeated, wishing that there was another way.
“No Alex, but maybe that’s what I deserve. I have never betrayed the brotherhood and I don’t plan to start now. I will find a way to end her life.”
“Good. I will hold you to that, Kain.”
With a snap of his fingers and a burst of flames Alex was gone. No doubt to tell Damon to keep an eye on him. Showing any emotion other then hate and rage was frowned upon. It was seen as a sign of weakness. Love was almost unheard of within the cavernous walls of the Bain Brotherhood. Love to them was like a priest on a killing spree, completely unheard of. If he refused and left Darkness they would hunt him down, he would wish for death before the torture stopped.
Kain knew that first hand, he had spent countless hours in the torture chambers. All to teach a lesson and promote fear within the Order, it was a painful lesson that was never forgotten. There would be many lined up to see him on the other end of the blade. Getting back everything that he had ever given, all to stop the corruption within the ranks, but honestly they were demons, what more could you expect?

Confrontation

“Don’t you dare walk away from me. After everything that you’ve put me through you at least owe me this.”
Kain stopped dead in his tracks. His green eyes seemed to glow as he turned to face her. Before she could draw another breath he had her pinned against the wall. He had her nose to nose; his breath was hot against her skin.
“I owe you nothing,” he hissed. “You. You owe me everything.”
She couldn’t help but laugh. The sound of her own voice sounded foreign to her ears. Rage instantly replaced her fear. She had accomplished the one thing that she thought she could never. Replace her fear with stone cold hatred.
She leaned forward, mashing her nose into his. “You smug bastard. What could I possibly owe you? You took everything from me. You tricked me into your bed, you played with my mind, tormented me while I slept. The only thing that I owe you is your head on stick.”
He grinned, burying his face into her neck. “You can try my sweet, but you haven’t the strength to kill me. And as I recall you rather enjoyed being in my bed.”
She blushed. She was too angry to feel ashamed. “Don’t flatter yourself Kain, I thought you were Tavin.”
His smile widened, “are you so sure of that Morgan?”

No Matter the Cost ~

Tavin could sense her fear, feel her pain, but it did nothing to ease his anger.
“Damn it Morgan, are you crazy? How could you even consider the idea of seeing him again? Look at what happened the last time. You can’t honestly think that he’s sorry for any of it! He played you into his hand. We need to sit back and plan our next move.”
Morgan’s temper flared, “that’s easy for you to say, your not scared all of the time. Your thoughts and dreams aren’t haunted like mine. I refuse to be his victim any longer. I’m going to face him and I’m going to do it alone. If you can’t understand that then I’m not sure what we’re even doing together.”
The pained look on his face made her want to sink into the floor. The hurt look in his deep brown eyes was almost enough for her to apologize and find another way. But she knew that there was no other way. She had to face her fears and using him as a crutch wasn’t going to help anybody. It only gave Kain more power over her. He had backed her into a corner and she now realized that her only out was to confront him head on.
“I’m sorry Tavin, this is my fight.”
   “Let me help you.”
   “I can’t”
“Damn it, he’ll kill you! And that won’t solve anything!”
She sighed and stared at the floor,” maybe, maybe not. But it is my choice to make.”
“If you try, I will stop you.”
“No, you won’t. Your part of the Order and you can’t interfere with my freewill.”
“Yes, I will. They can have my damn soul. It means nothing anyway if I lose you.”
“I’m sorry, but it does,” her voice was little more then a whisper. She wouldn’t meet his eyes; instead she turned and walked out the door.

A Score to Settle

Tavin heard an anguished cry from inside the cabin. He knew instantly that it was Morgan. Just the thought of something or someone harming her was enough to make him crazy. He dropped the bottle of red wine and the purple orchids on the ground. He ran into the small cabin to find her. His only thought was to make sure that she was alright. When he walked into the bedroom his whole world fell upside down. Morgan was standing there with tears running down her face. Behind her stood a perfect glamour of him, it faded revealing Kain for only an instant. He smiled at Tavin and disappeared into a cloud of sulfuric smoke. It left Tavin unsure if he should kill him now or later.

With one look of Morgan’s face he reluctantly chose later. She needed him right now. Kain’s long and painful death would come soon enough. He grabbed a blanket from the bed and draped it over her shoulders. He wrapped it tightly around her naked body as he pulled her up against his chest. She was still shaken and horrified. Her thoughts were a jumbled mess. He couldn’t grasp what had exactly happened. Did she catch him before he had actually touched her? Or Tavin shuddered to think, after?

If he made love to her pretending to be me, I will snap his fucking neck!

“Do you think that you can tell me what happened?”

He could feel her body tense up and her heart accelerate. At that moment he knew exactly what had happened. Kain had ravished her body, toyed with her mind for his own satisfaction. All to get to me, he thought.

That thought alone was enough to bring him to his knees. It was his fault that Kain had did this to her. It was his fault that she now hurt and feared his rejection because of Kain. All of this just to show him that he could. Morgan could feel his rage. She saw it when he finally tilted her face up to his. She saw the pain, the anger and the all too obvious guilt written all over his face.

How could he even for one moment believe that this was his fault? It was hers and hers alone. She should have known that something wasn’t right from the start.

He gently stroked the side of her tear stricken face, “this is not your fault love. It is mine. He used you to get to me. We have played this game for far too long. I knew what he was capable of. I just didn’t honestly think that he would... involve you like this. I should have. He’s told me himself that he would have you. And I all but handed you over to him. I will never forgive myself.”

“You can’t and won’t hold any blame for this Tavin! It was my fault. I should have known.”

She buried her head in his chest and cried like she had never cried before. In that moment Tavin knew that Kain would pay. Pay dearly for each and every tear that Morgan shed. Her pain would not be in vain. The next time that he saw him would be the last time.

The Ultimate Betrayal

“You have no idea how much I love you. I promise that I will do whatever it takes to keep you safe.”

His almost black eyes continued to burn into Morgan’s. He kissed her lips, slowly moving down to the soft skin of her neck.

  “I love you too, Tavin.”

He rolled onto his side, pulling her tightly against his muscular chest. The sound of a loudly pumping heart echoed in Morgan’s ear. Something was out of place. As the sound continued to flow through her mind, it finally clicked. In a rush of panic, she roughly pushed her naked body off of his. Trying to quickly make her way off the bed, he grabbed her arm. Pulling her hard up against his body, “what’s wrong?”

The worried look on his face almost made her feel guilty. She refused to meet his eyes. She stared at the floor, her mind desperately trying to grasp for a possible explanation. Tavin placed his hand under her chin, forcing her to look up into his eyes.

Her heart sank as the surface of his handsome face began to faultier. His smooth calm voice was all wrong. He smiled. A sly cunning smile that made her blood run cold. She was no longer in the arms of Tavin. And the sudden recognition made all of her fears become a harsh reality. She had just made love to the one that she could never trust…Kain.
