Kain Sinclair ~

I have only two choices. Either I follow through with the hit or I take her and run like hell. If I kill her, I could be killing my last chance of redemption. There’s just something about this one. Taking out a mark has always been easy. Hell, you kill them; collect the bounty and move on to the next one. I’ve never even given it a second thought, until now. Why can’t I bring myself to take her life? She’s nothing to me. A source of good, I hate all those do-gooder types. All they do is bitch and moan, trying to turn every lost soul into a new found saint. Where’s the fun in that? Better yet who needs that shit? I sure as hell don’t. But when I see her, I can’t focus on anything else. I can’t seem to bring myself to hurt her. There has to be a reason behind it. What aren’t they telling me?

Tavin Wyler ~

“Why can’t I get that girl out of my head? Damn it, I don’t need this right now. The only thing that I should be worried about is Kain. He’s up to something, he attacked her over nothing. She’s new to the craft; she couldn’t possibly be a threat to him or Darkness. In all my years of watching them I’ve never seen such reckless behavior. She did nothing to provoke his attack.”
“I’m truly sorry Tavin. You came here for answers, and I will tell you what I can. But understand this-
If you become involved with this mortal girl, you run the risk of not living through it. Are you willing to sacrifice your life for hers?” It took only a moment for Tavin to realize his answer. Yes. If it took dying to keep Morgan safe then he was willing to embrace it. Putting that bastard Kain out of his misery was an added bonus. He had already taken one life from him. And he would be damned if he’d stand by and watch him take another. Olivia felt her heart sink as she listened to the thoughts in Tavin’s mind. She’d known all along what his answer would be. She was just silently hoping that he would reconsider.

Morgan’s dilemma

How do you choose who to love? As if such a thing were even possible. My heart is torn between the two of them. Neither would be the wisest choice, but it’s too late for that now. I’m in to deep. They both have shed the blood of the innocent. Tavin for survival, Kain for the sport. Tavin had been a different person when he killed. He’s changed now, only killing the warriors of Darkness. I suppose there are worse things then being in love with a vampire.
Kain on the other hand, swears that he has changed. Being a warlock raised by demons would make anyone evil, wouldn’t it? He says that we are soul mates, destined to be together. Fight side by side to destroy the ranks within the Order of Darkness. But can I trust him? His soul belongs to Darkness, could I ever save it? Kain willingly choose the Darkness over the Light. Hell, he almost killed me for the bounty on my head. So trusting him may be out of the question. I don’t know if its love or lust, I guess I really don’t have much to lose – except for just my soul! How will I ever decide between them? That is if they don’t kill each other first.

Here's a small taste of A Kiss of Darkness ~

Since the beginning of time, there have been two dueling sources of power. Good and Evil. With the birth of mankind, God gave his beloved creatures one distinguishing characteristic - freewill. Within each human there lies multiple layers to the soul. It is sometimes so fragile, so easily manipulated, that the soul can be swayed into either direction. There is even a chosen few, who have been given special gifts. Magic that is born within them, but it is their choice whether to serve the Light or the Darkness. It has always been the job of the Order to watch over the chosen few. To make sure that the Darkness, in no way interferes with their freewill to choose. And only to become involved when the Darkness seeks to diminish the Light.
Leading to the search of the one who can end the power struggle for good. A female child, who was born to a witch and an Elder Guardian. Only the power possessed by that bloodline can vanquish the Darkness forever. Ensuring that the gates of Hell remain closed for all eternity.
