“Why can’t I get that girl out of my head? Damn it, I don’t need this right now. The only thing that I should be worried about is Kain. He’s up to something, he attacked her over nothing. She’s new to the craft; she couldn’t possibly be a threat to him or Darkness. In all my years of watching them I’ve never seen such reckless behavior. She did nothing to provoke his attack.”
“I’m truly sorry Tavin. You came here for answers, and I will tell you what I can. But understand this-
If you become involved with this mortal girl, you run the risk of not living through it. Are you willing to sacrifice your life for hers?” It took only a moment for Tavin to realize his answer. Yes. If it took dying to keep Morgan safe then he was willing to embrace it. Putting that bastard Kain out of his misery was an added bonus. He had already taken one life from him. And he would be damned if he’d stand by and watch him take another. Olivia felt her heart sink as she listened to the thoughts in Tavin’s mind. She’d known all along what his answer would be. She was just silently hoping that he would reconsider.
